A West Monroe man is facing multiple drug-related charges after deputies searched for him due to outstanding warrants.

According to an arrest report for Michael Otwell, age 35, the OPSO Special Crimes Apprehension Team located Otwell and asked if there were drugs on his person or in his home.

Otwell told deputies he had about 80 grams of heroin and some pills inside a fanny pack.

Deputies located approximately 91.5 grams of suspected heroin, 22 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine, 1.5 grams of suspected marijuana, five suspected Adderall tablets, six suspected Clonazepam and one handgun.

Deputies also saw several other guns in plain view in the home.

Otwell was booked at Ouachita Correctional Center Wednesday morning on five counts failure to appear, illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of narcotics, possession of a schedule IV controlled dangerous substance, two counts possession with intent to distribute a schedule II controlled dangerous substance and possession of a schedule I controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute.
