Foundation stone laid for NDDCB treatment centre today

A foundation stone will be laid today to construct a treatment centre with the capacity to accommodate 1,000 drug related patients. Defence Secretary Major General (Retired) Kamal Gunaratne will lay the stone at the Navadigantha Treatment and Rehabilitation Center, Urapola, Nittambuwa.

The National Dangerous Drugs Control Board (NDDCB) will construct this fully fledged treatment center.

It will be constructed under the programme of expanding the treatment and rehabilitation services under the National Program to create a country free from drug abuse in accordance with the Vistas of Prosperity and Splendor of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

The United Nations Office for Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the Government of Germany will fund the project. Technical and labor support will be provided by the Navy.
