County Sheriff

— Deputies responded to an old state Route 45, Lisbon, address, where a landlord and tenant were having a dispute at 6:47 p.m. Thursday. Deputies explained the legal eviction process.

— A Hartley Road, Butler Township, woman reported at 11:16 a.m. Thursday two metal garbage cans full of trash were taken from her curb.

— A Poland Road, Unity Township woman reported at 8:56 a.m. Thursday someone involved her in a scam that cost her $500. She received an email from someone she thought was a good friend, who stated as a senior citizen she could receive $200,000 if she signed up. She called the number on the email, speaking to a man calling himself agent Ford Smith, who requested eBay gift cards. She purchased two $200 cards and sent them, but Smith contacted her to say one of the cards did not work asking her for additional money. She did not have anymore to send and she contacted her friend who denied he sent her the initial email.

— An unwanted man was reported at a Wisner Road, Hanover Township, address at 3:01 p.m. Monday. Deputies explained the eviction laws to the people involved a second time and where they can and cannot be on the property.

— Yellow Creek Township trustee Kenny Biacco reported at 9:39 a.m. Wednesday three signs were painted with gold paint with vulgar words and racist slurs in the area of Boyd and Bill Smith Roads. Additionally, someone painted Boyd Road itself with spray paint.

— Security at Cardinal Health in Twinsburg reported at 11:31 a.m. Thursday a Fairfield Township resident attempted to order medical supplies through their agency and when he was told he had to have a doctor’s order he threatened to burn down their facility. Deputies went to check on the man, who said he was extremely frustrated with health insurance and the medical supply company and had told them “don’t blame me if your building burns to the ground.” Deputies told him to seek a doctor’s order and not to make threats.

— A Lower Elkton Road, Fairfield township, man reported at 11:02 p.m. Thursday someone stole his 2001 Buick Century from his unattached garage.

— A Frola Motel manager reported a couple was having a domestic dispute in room one at 6:17 a.m. Tuesday. Deputies spoke to the couple who each signed a refusal to prosecute the other.

Highway Patrol

— Four Wellsville teenagers were injured after the car they were in went off the road and overturned on 10th Street Extension in Yellow Creek Township at 8:31 p.m. June 11. Troy Carter, 16, was driving when he went off the right side of the road and down an embankment, with the car overturning. Carter, who was cited for failure to control and for not wearing a seat belt, was flown by helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital with suspected serious injuries. The following passengers were taken by ambulance to a local hospital with suspected serious injuries: Alana Amato, 15, Aubrianna Ramsey, 15, and Corbin Hall, 17.

–Jeffrey A. Ebert, 57, of Lisbon, struck a deer while driving on state Route 164 in Fairfield Township at 1:18 a.m. Thursday.

East Palestine

— An officer responded to the area of East and West Rebecca Street at 1:19 a.m. June 13 in reference to a large cook out and fire, but could not locate a disturbance.

— Michael J. Mick, 42, North Walnut Street, East Palestine, was arrested at 7:24 p.m. June 13 on South Market Street on an active warrant out of the county sheriff’s office.

— Officers responded to a an Alice Street home at 8:07 p.m. June 13 in reference to a death investigation.

— An unknown individual attempted to break into an external generator at a Hunston Road health care center at around 3 a.m. June 14 but left when the alarm sounded.

— Officers responded to an 800 block Pinetree Circle at 3:27 p.m. Monday where the resident reported her son and his girlfriend were in a very heated argument. They left before officers arrived and the resident was advised of the eviction process.

— Officers responded to a 700 block East Martin Street business at 3:36 p.m. Monday in reference to people trespassing in a secured area around a lake. The people left before officers arrived.

— An officer observed a woman who appeared to be under the influence of something walking in the alley behind East Taggert Street at 1:33 a.m. Tuesday. The woman said she was just out walking while her friends were at a nearby business. The woman was released to the friends.

— A South Washington Street resident reported at 12:58 p.m. Tuesday she believes her neighbor may be leaving her toddler home alone on occasion. She was advised to call police if she suspects the neighbor has done it again.

— An officer responded to an unruly juvenile complaint on East Grant Street at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

— An officer responded to the area of East and West Rebecca Street at 1:19 a.m. June 13 in reference to a large cook out and fire, but could not locate a disturbance.

Perry Township

— An officer at 6:32 p.m. Thursday responded to the Salem Police station to speak with a juvenile who resides in Perry Township and said she was going to her sister’s house because she didn’t want to be at home. The officer spoke by phone with the mother who said she would pick the juvenile up later on.

— A welfare check was requested at 6:08 p.m. Thursday in the 1200 block of West State Street. The person said they were fine.

— Police responded at 3:47 p.m. Thursday to the 400 block of Benton Road for a welfare check on a person who suffers from drug addiction and hadn’t been heard from in days. The person agreed to leave with their family.

— A man in the 1100 block of West Perry Street reported at 1:56 p.m. Thursday that close to $1,000 was missing from his bank account from unauthorized transactions. He believed the person who took the money was currently in the Eastern Ohio Correction Center for drug rehab. Police will attempt to get a photo of the person using the ATM.

— Police were called at 3:01 a.m. Thursday to Circle K South on South Lincoln for a person sleeping in the restroom. Officers found a male awake and alert. He said he was homeless and just needed to use the restroom. He asked if there were any homeless shelters in the area other than Youngstown. Officers were able to get in touch with a shelter on state Route 45 and get in contact with a case worker who was able to get a bed for the man for the night. Officers gave him a ride to the shelter.

— Police responded at 9:55 p.m. Wednesday to Dollar General on East Pidgeon Road for a suspicious camper parked in the lot for a long period of time. The vehicle left before police arrived.

— A woman in the 1300 block of West State Street reported at 1:05 p.m. Wednesday that her 12-year-old son was out of control and not listening. She said she asked him to turn off his phone and he became aggressive and started pushing her. She declined to pursue charges.

Salem

— An officer on patrol at 12:12 a.m. Friday saw someone walking with a flashlight in Hope Cemetery on North Lincoln Avenue after closing hours. The officer found a mother enjoying a walk with her three children. She was advised of the cemetery hours and left without incident.

— Police responded at 10:59 p.m. Thursday to the 400 block of East Seventh Street to check the well-being of a person who had been absent from work and could not be reached via telephone. Upon contact, she told the officer she was resigning from her current place of employment. She said she was mentally stable but did not want her work place or coworkers contacting her.

— A caller at 8:15 p.m. Thursday reported children riding in the back of a truck in the 800 block of Newgarden, but the vehicle was not found.

— Jamilyn Huston, 35, whose last known address was listed as Newgarden Avenue, was taken into custody at 7:16 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of West Pershing Street on a warrant out of Columbiana County. A sheriff’s deputy transported her to jail.

— Police responded at 7:06 p.m. Thursday to the 100 block of West Fifth for a 911 hangup call, making contact with a mother and young girl. The mother said her daughter was attempting to order from Wendy’s and was told not to. Officers kindly explained to the girl to only use 911 when needing help.

— A woman who was previously friends with a male reported phone harassment at 6:41 p.m. Thursday, saying she told him to have no contact with her and he has been continually harassing her so she blocked him on all media sites and phone. Now she said he’s having other people contact her. Officers were attempting to contact him to tell him to leave her alone.

— An officer was flagged down in the Walmart parking lot at 5:44 p.m. Thursday for an animal locked in a vehicle. Proper precautions were being taken to preserve the dog’s well-being. The owner was told about the complaint.

— Police were called to Walmart at 5:24 p.m. Thursday for a male who left the store with multiple items without paying for them.

— Assistance was requested at 5:16 p.m. Thursday at Salem Regional Medical Center where a patient with a history of being combative was being prepped for transport. Police stood by until the patient was transported without incident.

— A runaway juvenile was reported at 4:53 p.m. Thursday from the 1000 block of Jennings Avenue. With the help of family friends, police found the juvenile on East State near Highland. The juvenile was returned home safe and sound.

— Accidental damage was reported at 4:40 p.m. Thursday at the railroad crossing at West Pershing where a white box truck drove through the gate as it was coming down. A train then passed by, striking the gate and damaging it more. The truck was not found. Norfolk Southern was advised.

— A resident in the 400 block of North Ellsworth Avenue reported at 4:07 p.m. Thursday that a firearm was stolen out of a vehicle sometime in the past week.

— Police responded to Jennings and Eighth at 3:04 p.m. Thursday for a report of a male following a female in a vehicle. Officers found that the male followed her after she left work but he had since fled. He was reportedly out on bond for an assault charge involving the female. She was told to contact the courts and her local police department to advise them of the incident and to seek a protection order.

— A resident in the 500 block of Walnut Street reported at 2:32 p.m. Thursday that someone had been on the roof of his house sometime in the past week or two as evidenced by marks left in the areas that had been patched. There had been some roof sealant on the street, possibly from transfer off of the person’s shoe. Officers checked around and found no other evidence.

— Police responded to a residence in the 400 block of Ohio at 8:52 a.m. Thursday on behalf of Toledo Police.

Leetonia

— An officer responded to the coke ovens park at 11:58 p.m. Monday in reference to suspicious activity and spoke with and individual the officer had previously seen on Main Street who said he was hunting for Pokeman. He was advised the coke ovens park closes at dusk and he agreed to leave.

— Christopher D. Zepernick, 39, Pine Street, Leetonia, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on Columbia Street at 5:33 p.m. Wednesday.

— An officer responded to the coke ovens park at 7:22 p.m. Wednesday in reference to juveniles who were attempting to tip over a historic cart and throwing trash everywhere, then fled the area after being caught by an adult who made them clean up the mess. The officer searched the area but was unable to find the vehicle in which the juveniles fled. No damage was observed at the coke ovens.

Salem

— A Walmart employee called at 8:29 a.m. Friday for an odor just inside the store on East State Street at the grocery entrance. Firefighters checked the area and determined it was natural gas. Columbia Gas was notified and responded. The gas odor was coming from a heater above the doors, with the gas shut off and the heater red-tagged until repairs are made.

— Firefighters were called at 2:29 p.m. Tuesday to the 13000 block of Diagonal Road while on a mutual aid barn fire with Damascus for a piece of equipment on fire. An excavator was fully involved, with tank water used to extinguish the fire. Overhaul operations were then completed. Damascus, Green Township and Sebring fire also responded.

— Firefighters responded to the 28000 block of Buck Road at 1:38 p.m. Tuesday for mutual aid with Damascus on a barn fire. No injuries or damage to equipment were reported. Firefighters assisted with extinguishing the fire and overhaul.
