People in the Allerton community held a rally outside of a building that’s intended to become a drug treatment facility.

Protesters said they were told in November at a town hall by Councilman Mark Gjonaj and Sonny Vataj that the building would not become a methadone clinic or rehab and it wouldn't be sold to CHI LLC, which wanted to buy it for $1 million.

Exit Realty says the building at 2500 Williamsbridge Road was sold to a private buyer for upwards of $900,000 and they claim that buyer then sold it to Carnegie Hill Institute.

Councilman Gjonaj attended the rally and says he was unaware of this sale and when he learned of it he reached out to CHI.
