POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A South Florida woman charged with manslaughter in the death of a friend has been granted bond to go to rehab.

Yvonne Serrano wore a mask in her bond hearing last Friday.

The 52-year-old mother of four is charged with manslaughter in the death of 21-year-old Daniela Tavares. Her attorney is petitioning for her to get bond in order to go to rehab for years of alcohol abuse.

"Please deny her any rights," Tavares' mother said.

Tavares' mother was in tears as she told Broward Judge Barbara Duffy what has been taken from her life.

Last November, surveillance video from a bar in Coconut Creek show the two women leaving a gathering of friends.

Friends say Tavares was giving Serrano, who she knew from the gym, a ride home. The next morning, Serrano called 911 from her home in Coral Springs to report a dead woman in her car in the driveway.

"I don't know, I just walked out," Serrano said. "There's a car in my driveway with a dead body."

Serrano was arrested and charged with murder, which was then reduced to manslaughter.

Now, she's being granted bond.

"We cannot believe, we cannot grasp, we don't understand," said Carolina Miller, Tavares' friend. "We are speechless. Daniela's life was taken and this person is going to a rehab place."

"That this lady, this woman not only took my daughter's life, she also took away my life," Tavares' mother said.

Serrano only needs to put down $2,000 for the $20,000 bond to be released.

Once she does, she'll be taken to a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in Deerfield Beach, where she will be required to wear an ankle monitor.

However, the center doesn't have around-the-clock supervision for Serrano.
